Exposed and printed by the artist using large and medium format cameras during his tenure as a staff photographer at the historic gallery in Yosemite Village, one of the oldest continually operating photography galleries in the American West. Executed in the gallery’s darkroom, these images have remained in the archive since 2001 and are offered here for the first time.
The series documents peak luxury SUV car culture in Yosemite Valley in the weeks preceding September 11, 2001. Range Rover, Land Rover, BMW, Lexus, Audi with their windows reflecting granite and forest. License plates trace to Atherton, Redwood City, Newport Beach, Malibu. New cars captured where American landscape photography found its footing. That mythic imagery was the marketing engine for the luxury SUV boom.
Each print is unique within its edition. Certificate of authenticity included.
